SeeBeyondBorders’ Board of Directors ensures proper governance and guidance
SeeBeyondBorders is organised and managed as a single entity.
For legal and compliance reasons, SeeBeyondBorders comprises three legal entities; SeeBeyondBorders Australia, SeeBeyondBorders UK and SeeBeyondBorders Ireland. Each entity has its own board, local registrations and regulatory compliance requirements. SeeBeyondBorders Cambodia is a branch of the Australian entity and implements the programs to achieve the charitable objectives of the organisation. Operations in each country are complementary and adhere to shared vision, mission, values and policies. We work cooperatively to achieve the same objective; to improve the quality of learning for children in early grades education in Cambodia.

David Armstrong
David is a founding director of SeeBeyondBorders foundation and is chair of our Australian Board. A chartered accountant for over 25 years, David is a Director of Modoras Financial Performance Solutions and lives in Sydney.
Priscilla Chang
Priscilla is a primary school teacher, with more than 25 years of teaching experience. She has been to Cambodia several times to see the impact of our work. Priscilla lives in Sydney with her family.
Kate Shuttleworth
Co-founder of SeeBeyondBorders with Edward Shuttleworth, Kate previously coordinated the Quality Teaching Program and Literacy Programs. She is a teacher by background and has lived in Cambodia for several for years.
Penny Everitt
Penny is a former Country Manager with SeeBeyondBorders. She brings significant development experience as a board member and has contextual knowledge of Cambodian education. Penny now lives and works in Australia.
John C. Friend-Pereira
John worked as an Education Specialist with UNICEF in Cambodia and was a policy advisor to the Cambodian Independent Teachers Association. He qualified as a teacher in Ireland and now lives in Melbourne.
Andrew Studd
Andrew is a lawyer with Russell-Cooke LLP advising charities on governance, constitutional, grant funding and commercial matters. Andrew joined the trustees in 2016 and brings extensive experience to his role as Chair.
Rob Buchan
Rob has a wealth of experience in the restaurant and bar trade as well as being a freelance cartoonist and children’s book illustrator.
Caroline Abel
Caroline studied Zoology at Oxford University and has worked in medical research for over 25 years. Caroline is involved with another education project in India and a conservation programme in South London.
Jayne Crow
Jayne is a Program Management Specialist for the child rights organisation, Plan International UK.
Robyn Knox
Robyn volunteered with SeeBeyondBorders, in 2015, and she currently works in strategy and transformation with the British Red Cross.
Brenda Gosling
Brenda worked for 20 years in UK hospitals as a radiographer before becoming involved with antiques. She’s been involved with several charities and schools.
April Yee
April Yee writes about power and postcolonialism. A Harvard and Tin House alumna, April reported in more than a dozen countries before moving to London where she serves as fiction reader for TriQuarterly, a regular contributor to Ploughshares online, and mentor for the Refugee Journalism Project at University of the Arts London.
James Neill
James has worked in education for over 25 years. He started his career as a physics teacher in Nottingham, London and Bangkok. More recently he has been working with international schools & governments to help improve standards. James is based in London.
Emma Bakhle
Emma has been a professional fundraiser for more than 20 years, primarily focused on the health and disability needs of both children and adults, and since 2013 has been working on these issues within international development. She currently leads a fundraising team in the water, sanitation and hygiene sector. Emma is based in London.
Maeve Corish
Maeve is a former principal of Donabate Portrane Educate Together National School (DPETNS). DPETNS is an accredited Ashoka-Changemaker School with a focus on the Sustainable Development Goals. She has been to Cambodia several times.
Tom Costello
Tom spent 14 years with The Atlantic Philanthropies. Tom was a faculty member of the Irish Management Institute. He is a member of the Government Advisory Council on Children and Young People. Tom served as Chair of the Children’s Rights Alliance.
Edward Shuttleworth
With his wife Kate, Edward founded SeeBeyondBorders in 2009. He is committed to providing Cambodian children with access to quality education.
Aideen O’Byrne
Aideen has spent much of her life living in Asia and has recently returned to Ireland. She is a social entrepreneur and holds Master’s degrees in Organisational Psychology and Change. Aideen is currently undertaking the Institute of Directors Diploma in company direction.
Marie Moreau
Marie Moreau is a former primary school Principal. She taught at second and third levels in Lesotho, Southern Africa from 1990-1996 and also worked in an Irish Aid funded primary education programme in Uganda in 2016. She took part in the SeeBeyondBorders Teacher Programme in January 2020.
