October 2011 trip October 2011 trip

By Ed Shuttleworth -

New for 2011 is a Teach the Teacher trip in October which will run workshops in Ratanakiri and Kompong Cham.

We launch a new programme in October in collaboration with VSO and Kape. Heading to Kompong Cham & Ratanakiri, we plan to run slightly revised versions of our Teach the Teachers workshops. We are delighted to be invited to work with these organisations and with their involvement we see scope for significant improvement to the level of follow up “in the classroom” that can be provided to the Khmer teachers who attend our workshops. We are planning to add sessions on being a mentor to selected teachers but recognise that Ratanakiri, a remote province which always comes out bottom of any Provincial league table on education in Cambodia, will provide special challenges. Of course there will also be time for soaking up life for Cambodians with activities to include seeing the sunset on the Mekong, a visit to waterfalls and crater lake near Banlung and a cycling trip outside Phnom Penh. This will be mixed with school visits and resource production, so we’re expecting to be tired but inspired when we get back! View the October trip itinerary for details.
