Our people work towards our common goals in Australia, the United Kingdom and Cambodia. They sometimes perform dual roles within SeeBeyondBorders. Our people are passionate and devoted to our cause, and no amount of praise would fully account for what they do.
David is closely involved in SeeBeyondBorders being one of the founding directors of the Foundation. He has worked for KPMG, Shell Australia and been a partner in a Chartered Accounting firm for more than 25 years. With significant experience in business services including directorships and the chairing of an audit committee of a listed ASX company he brings wide commercial experience to SeeBeyondBorders.He continues to hold other community based committee memberships as well as having previous involvement on various panels including the ICAA.
Kate, with her husband Ed co-founded SeeBeyondBorders. She co-ordinates the Teach the Teachers program which includes co-writing the programs, delivering the workshops and running training sessions for volunteers. Kate qualified as a Registered Nurse in the UK in 1982, and then, as a mature age student went on to retrain as a primary school teacher gaining her B. Education. Currently, she is studying part-time for her Masters in Educational Leadership as well as working in a Catholic primary school in Sydney. Kate took part in the Timor Leste Teacher Placement program for Parramatta and Broken Bay CEO in 2008. This involved co-running Primary Maths teacher workshops for teachers from rural schools in Timor. She has since taken part as a training facilitator, training new volunteers for the maths program in a 3 day intensive workshop for teachers employed by the CEO.
Priscilla is a Primary school teacher (B Ed. Primary) and has worked in education since 1990. She has worked in the NSW Government system in Western Sydney and the Catholic system in the Diocese of Sydney and Broken Bay. Currently, Priscilla is also teaching English to Sudanese refugee women at Homebush. She became involved with SeeBeyondBorders through her work colleague Kate Shuttleworth, one of the co-founders of SeeBeyondBorders. Priscilla is committed to bringing quality education to the children of Cambodia and believes that this is of the utmost importance in the recovery of the country. She is married with 4 children.
Andy grew up in London. After gaining an Economics degree at Bath, he worked as a software designer for UK software houses. After completing a MSc in Business Administration in 1987, he migrated permanently to Australia, where he now lives with his wife Rosanna and their three children. After working in several start-up companies, he co-founded Infra Corporation, an Australian software company that grew to have operations across Europe and US. He left the company in 2008 when it was acquired by EMC Corporation. He currently advises Australian IT SMEs on growth strategies, particularly developing international operations. Andy has been working with SeeBeyondBorders since inception, and is actively involved in the organisation’s fund-raising activities.
Bronwyn has had an eclectic career spanning tertiary education, documentary film production, business development in the corporate and franchise sectors, senior management in local, state and federal government agencies, and leadership of three national not-for-profit organisations. Currently, Bronwyn consults in change management and sits on the Board or Advisory Committee of three not-for-profit organisations. Bronwyn fervently believes that, when like-minded people work together to redress poverty and need, miracles can happen.
Daniel is an experienced business leader, who has run financial services businesses of up to 1,600 people, and is currently working full time as Chief Operating Officer for an international insurance company based in Sydney. He gained his Masters at Stanford Business School, California and is an Australian Chartered Accountant. Helping others is what Daniel is passionate about, and he understands the value of education in improving people’s lives. He believes that the work of See Beyond Borders can make a real difference to the lives of people in developing countries. Daniel has been working with See Beyond Borders since mid 2009

Sarah has nearly ten years of corporate strategy experience, working for some of Australia’s biggest companies including Qantas and Westpac. She specialises in helping companies to set and achieve their long term objectives, such as identifying opportunities for growth or improving profitability. Sarah holds a Masters of Business Administration with the Australian Graduate School of Management. She has been involved with SeeBeyondBorders since 2011, contributing a relentless focus on the ‘bigger picture’, as well as staying true to our vision, mission and goals.
Born in India, home until 16, Ed was educated in England. Qualifying as a Chartered Accountant, he worked in treasury management in London and Hong Kong before settling in Australia in 1995. Working in the energy industry, he joined LMS Generation in 2004 where he continues on the Board. During 2006 - 2008 he worked for the Jesuits on their World-Youth-Day programme. Ed and Kate were married in 1982 and have three children. They first visited Cambodia in 2002 and subsequently Ed spent four years on the Board of Tabitha Foundation Australia. Together, they started SeeBeyondBorders in 2009.
Alan has worked in the marketing industry for over 40 years, initially in Melbourne and then in London for seven years. In 1982 he managed the Wunderman International Australian office in Sydney, and then started The Direct Response Company in 1985. This became an award winning Direct Marketing agency in Australia with clients that included Commonwealth Bank, Hewlett Packard, MBF, Volvo and Telstra. After 16 years, the company was bought by McCann Erickson. Since then, Alan has consulted to various businesses and not-for-profit organisations, working with the National Trust for six years. Alan joined SeeBeyondBorders in 2012 on a part-time basis.
Beth is undertaking a Bacehlor of Communications, majoring in Social Inquiry. Beth works part-time as our Office Administrator and enjoys writing and creative work.
Christine is a specialist in delivering complex and grass roots level community engagement, educational programs and communication campaigns. A marketing and communications professional she has over 15 years’ experience across the corporate and not-forprofit sectors. Originally from Queensland, Christine has been based in Sydney for the last 14 years and joined SeeBeyondBorders in April 2013. She is looking forward to contributing to the valuable work of the organisation and working with the many stakeholder groups that are a key part of the organisation’s success.
Fiona trained as a chartered accountant in the United Kingdom, working in public practice and stockbroking. While her children were young, an interest in supporting education led to six years serving as a school governor. Fiona gained experience in the not-for-profit sector as Finance Manager of a Community Foundation in England. Fiona and her family moved to Sydney in 2009 and she joined SeeBeyondBorders as Finance Manager in 2011. Fiona visited Cambodia in July 2012 and witnessed both the need for, and quality of, the education programs being developed by SeeBeyondBorders.
Jo was born in the United Kingdom and migrated to Australia in 1980. Jo’s background is in university administration, both in the UK and Australia, particularly in the area of international student welfare. She also worked for Fairfax Media in the coordination of major sporting and cultural events. Before arriving in Australia, Jo’s travels included nearly two years living in Africa, a formative experience that has steered her towards volunteering and working with SeeBeyondBorders.
Lou Belle is a skilled communicator, adult educator and an experienced professional in stakeholder engagement. She studied and worked in Australia before moving to New Zealand for 11 years where she worked in local government, private consulting, community and not-for-profit sectors.. Lou Belle has written educational resource kits and delivered workplace training programs, from small workshops to professional conferences.
Mary-Anne’s professional background is as a physiotherapist. She volunteers for SeeBeyondBorders in our Sydney office, providing assistance to office staff. Mary-Anne was introduced to SeeBeyondBorders when her son travelled to Cambodia. Inspired by her son’s positive experience, and wanting her daughter to enjoy something similar, Mary-Anne worked with SeeBeyondBorders to assemble a Project Team comprising of her family and friends. Upon travelling to Cambodia and witnessing the incredible challenges the Cambodian people face as well as the very real contribution SeeBeyondBorders is making, Mary-Anne made the decision to join SeeBeyondBorders as a volunteer in February 2012.
Andrew is a partner in Russell-Cooke’s Charity and Social Business team. He advises on a wide range of constitutional and governance matters, commercial contracts, mergers and reorganisations. Andrew worked as in-house counsel for major international development agency, Care International UK, and currently sits on their Finance and Audit Committee. Prior to that, he was a partner in another leading law firm, advising charities. He started his career at Ashurst where he advised corporate and private equity funds on international mergers and acquisitions.
Anne was born and educated in Canada and the Caribbean. She qualified as a registered nurse and worked as a staff nurse and Sister in Canada, the United States of America and the United Kingdom. Anne moved to the United Kingdom in 1980, where she now resides. Since 1998, Anne has been working in the primary school system as a teaching assistant and has taken an active role as a church governor.
Caroline is Edward Shuttleworth’s sister and was also born in India. Caroline was educated in England and studied Zoology at Oxford University. Caroline continues to have a passion for ecology and the environment and is determined to give something back to society for the privileged education she received. Caroline has worked in medical research for over 25 years, both in the United Kingdom and abroad, including a placement at Sydney’s Royal North Shore Hospital. Her experience includes bench work, liaising with potential funders of research and coordinating projects from start to finish. Caroline is also involved with an education program in Kalimpong, India, and a conservation program in South London.

Peter is a Partner and former head of Private Client at Higgs & Sons Solicitors in the United Kingdom. He has over 20 years’ experience in trusts, tax and estate planning and is recognised as a leading practitioner by Chambers and Legal 500. He acts as a trustee of a large number of family and charitable trusts. Peter has acted as a primary school governor and is currently on the Board of Governors at Moor Park Prep School.
Boeb has significant experience in the educational sector in Cambodia. His experience includes training upcoming teachers in Cambodia’s regional and provincial teacher training colleges, as well as eight years of experience working with primary and secondary school teachers for international non-government organisations in Cambodia. Boeb has a Bachelor of Education, a Bachelor of Human Resource Management and is currently completing his Master of Business Administration. Boeb joined SeeBeyondBorders in March 2011 as the first Cambodian staff member. Boeb is committed to providing Cambodian children with access to quality education and believes that this is of the utmost importance in the recovery of the country.
Kea recently joined SeeBeyondBorders as Community Liaison Officer. Prior to this, he spent four years working as a Community Mobilisation Liaison Officer and Youth Worker for a local non-government organisation. Kea draws upon his previous experience in his current role to mobilise and engage communities to take part in helping to educate their children and in their schools’ activities. Kea holds a Bachelor of Information Technology.
Reasmey joined SeeBeyondBorders in September 2012 as Community Liaison Officer. Reasmey holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Pannasastra University in Cambodia, where he was president of the Student Senate. During his time at university, Reasmey worked with local and international non-government organisations and led groups of students, involving them in community service and social work. Reasmey draws upon his university experience in his current role to involve communities in school-based education and activities.
Sophea holds a Bachelor of Education and is currently completing a Masters of Rural Development and Project Management. Sophea commenced her career as a lower secondary school teacher. Sophea later worked at the Provincial Teacher Training Centre in Battambang, where she helped to develop teacher trainees. In 2009, Sophea joined the not-for-profit organisation VVOB, where she worked as a core teacher, writing and editing health manuals for use in primary schools. Sophea joined SeeBeyondBorders in February 2012 as Mentor Development Coordinator. Her role involves building mentor teachers’ capacity and providing them with technical assistance.
Sophen has worked in the educational sector in Cambodia for nine years. Sophen started his career as a qualified lower secondary school teacher and spent two years teaching English at a school on the Thai-Cambodian border. He was subsequently promoted to Deputy Director of the school. Prior to this, Sophen spent five years working for a UK-based international non-government organisation as a volunteer’s assistant and translator on the Mainstreaming Inclusive Education (MIE) project. Sophen joined SeeBeyondBorders in June 2011 as Education Program Coordinator. His role is to coordinate the Teach the Teacher program in Cambodia.
Souneang joined SeeBeyondBorders Cambodia as our Financial Officer in January 2012. Prior to this time, she was a volunteer. Souneang has recent experience in accounting for organisations based in Cambodia. Her role is to manage and prepare the budget for workshops, mentoring programs and monthly expenses for all staff. Souneang is currently completing her degree and will hold a Bachelor of Finance and Banking from the University of Management and Economics in 2013.
